Newton Abbott’s Quint was called for automatic mutual aid to the Scranton Fire Company for a residential structure fire at 3719 Columbia Street.
Initial size-up by Scranton Assistant Chief Jack Chiappone found a one and a half story residence with smoke visible from the roof ridge. Scranton’s engine and the ladder from Hamburg Village Fire Department quickly gained access to the attic and began to suppress the fire.
Newton Abbott’s crew was assigned to second floor truck operations, pulling ceilings and determining fire location in the spaces between the ceiling and attic space. Members located fire in the attic spaces and helped to operate a 2.5″ handline. The fire was contained to the attic.
