This afternoon, Newton Abbott and Scranton fire companies were dispatched to the I-90 Eastbound near Exit 56, for a reported vehicle fire. Multiple callers reported a well-involved semi truck.

Newton Abbott Engine 1 arrived first on scene, controlling traffic which had stopped due to the smoke conditions, and advanced a 1-3/4″ handline to the burning truck, which was not pulling a trailer. The fire was quickly brought under control with approximately 500 gallons of water; Scranton 2 applied a water/foam mixture to the remains of the vehicle to control a possible re-ignition of spilled diesel fuel.

Seneca Hose was also requested to the scene, but was returned to service shortly thereafter.
